How long should I record for?
You don't need to be labeling the whole time the recorder is being worn or on. It may be easier to put the recorder on the individual and then record/label later.

For example, it may be easy to put the recorder on the person who is vocalizing when they come home from school, or you have a chunk of time where you think there might be interesting sounds and you might have a few minutes to label here and there. You can use the remote to turn the recorder on and off whenever you want. If you hear something that you want to label and have a few minutes, pull out the Commalla Android phone and start labeling!

A good rule of thumb is to label for about 10-15 minutes a day. This might mean you have an audio recording that is 2-3 hours long. Having unlabeled sounds throughout the audio recording is helpful for us too!
How do I delete a sound that I labeled incorrectly?
An "incorrect label" happens when you accidentally click a label on the labeling app on the Android. To delete a label you can click on the and immediately delete an incorrect label.

Do I need to be labeling the whole time my Sony Recorder is on?
No. You don't need to be labeling on the app the whole time the Sony Recorder is recording. It may be easier to put the recorder on the individual, and then record/label later.
What should I do if missed labeling a sound?
Let's say you are with your child and they suddenly make a series of sounds. The recorder is on their shirt but it takes you a while to open the app on your Android and you miss a few of the sounds. This is perfectly fine.

If the sounds that your child makes are repetitive and can be categorized into one label then even if you miss labeling the first sound we can group that first sound with the rest. Please click the start button as close as possible to when the vocalization started. It’s okay if there is a little bit of delay - that happens!

Where should I put the recorder on my child?
At the top of their shirt, near the collar is a good spot. But anywhere on their shirt or pocket will do. The magnets on the Recorder are very strong. They can handle any kind of movement and are difficult for children to take off.
Are sounds recorded from the Commalla app?
No, the only recordings we receive are from the recorder. The app is only for labeling sounds.
